Job Description

Writes technical copy for various operation and maintenance manuals and prepares related technical documentation.

1. Researches and compiles technical data for use in various operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, installation guides, and other technical documentation.
2. Obtains data from review of documentation, drawings, schematics, and reports, interviews with technical staff members, and the study of published material.
3. Prepares written text and coordinates layout and organization of materials according to prepared outlines and specifications.
4. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

5. S1000D Experience required.

6. Working knowledge of government standards and specifications.
7. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

1-3 years of related experience preparing technical documentation.

1. Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in technical research and writing.
2. Knowledge of and ability to uses various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications.
3. Knowledge of the organization’s products and services, customer requirements, purpose and structure of required documentation, and end user’s level of understanding.
4. Effective written communications skills.
This is a part time position with potential for full time employment.
