Job Description

Prepares drawings or computer models of simple, easily visualized structures, systems, parts or equipment from sketches or marked-up prints, selects appropriate templates/computer programs or uses a compass and other equipment needed to complete assignments. Drawings and models fit familiar patterns and present few technical problems. Supervisor provides detailed instructions on new assignments, gives guidance when questions arise, and reviews completed work for accuracy. Typical assignments include: 

a.  Drawing from sketches, the building floor plans, determining size, spacing and arrangement of freehand lettering according to scale.

b. Drawing simple land profiles from predetermined structural dimensions and reduced survey notes.

c.  Preparing a computer model of a room, building, and structure from data, prints, and photos.

Prepares and maintains blueprints, maps, charts, graphs, and other technical drawings.

1. Prepares detailed drawings of elementary mechanical and electronic components, assemblies, and engineering change orders.

2. Prepares drawings from detailed notes and specifications.

3. Verifies completed work and checks dimensions, materials to be used, and quantities.

4. May use a PC or CAD workstation.

5. Maintains current knowledge of relevant tools and equipment as assigned.

6. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

0-1 year of related drafting experience.

Active Secret clearance required.

Skills & Abilities
1. Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in drafting.
2. Knowledge of applicable drawing standards and specifications.
