Job Description

This position manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.


1. Manages the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems.

2. Support and troubleshoot web applications; this ranges from deploying tomcat-based applications using AWS and digging through logs to find errors.
3. Support applications hosted in the AWS environment which includes deployments, patches, security checks and tourine maintenance.

4. Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems.

5. Sets up administrator and service accounts.

6. Maintains system documentation

7. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

8. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.

9. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

10. May program in an administrative language.

11. Oversees implementation of testing strategies and documentation of results.

12. Provides advice and training to end-users.

13. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.

14. Serves as a technical team or task leader.

15. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

16. Participates in special projects as required.

Mandatory Skills/Requirements:

- Familiarity with AWS technology and virtualization

- Experience with Linux Servers

- Experience with Windows Server 2008/2012 R2

- Experience supporting enterprise-wide software

- Experience with simple oracle database tasks (using SQL developer)

- Familiarity with encryption technology (PKI authentication)

- Hands-on experience with web services

Job Requirements

- 10-15 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

- Must be organized in order to keep track of a vigorous schedule.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have ability to work as a team in supporting multiple applications.
