Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) supports the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). Our programs provide children in need with critical resources to assist them in becoming integrated members of American society.

Unaccompanied alien children apprehended by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) immigration officials are transferred to the care and custody of ORR. ORR promptly places an unaccompanied child in the least restrictive setting that is in the best interests of the child, taking into consideration danger to self, danger to the community, and risk of flight. ORR takes into consideration the unique nature of each child’s situation and incorporates child welfare principles when making placement, clinical, case management, and release decisions that are in the best interest of the child.

Case Coordinator

Tracks new placements and progress of minors in ORR funded care. Keeps records on the status of children's cases.

Visits ORR-funded care provider sites to conduct weekly staffing and interviews children when necessary to complete a release recommendation and/or make placement/transfer recommendations to a least restrictive setting that is in the best interest of the child.

Provides timely and thorough review, assessment, and completes third party release recommendations

for family reunification to ORR. (Recommendations to ORR, may include straight release, release with post-release services, home study prior to release consideration, or denial of release to sponsor)

Assists care provider staff in identifying any special needs of the children or sponsor.

Confers weekly with ORR to discuss complex cases utilizing best child welfare practices, juvenile justice system, mental health, and ORR policies. Prepares written reports regarding progress and issues related to program trends.

Assists care provider and ORR to identify potential victims of human trafficking and tracks referrals to ORR. Ensures that eligible children are referred for benefits and services and collaborates with care providers to create safety plans for eligible children. 

Refers legal provider, DHS, or other stakeholder inquiries requiring Government attention to the ORR designee. Refers release reconsiderations or case file requests by minors’ attorney to ORR.



Education/Equivalent: Training Required

Requires BS/BA degree in Social Work or related field, or Masters in Social Work or related field.

Location:

Position is based at home but candidate will be able to cover programs in the Tucson,Arizona area.

Experience: Requires 2-5 years post-graduate experience based on degree.

Customer requires: If BSW or related degree, five years of demonstrated post-graduate child welfare, social service, case management and/or mental health professional experience If MSW or related degree, two years of demonstrated post-graduate child welfare, case management, social service, and/or mental health professional experience. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (will be tested)

Experience working with immigrant, refugee, and underserved populations is preferred

Will Undergo fingerprint background check by customer for clearance to work with unaccompanied alien children

Job Requirements
