Job Description

GDIT is seeking an experienced CDC Travel Preparer to provide travel preparation support services to satisfy the overall travel needs of a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) customer

 This role is in support of a large division with a very heavy travel workload.  Unwavering attention to detail, timely and accurate responses to requests and changes, and the ability to manage numerous travel itineraries simultaneously are essential skills to be successful. 


• Developing cost estimates for domestic and international trips.
• Entering and updating travel projections in a custom tracking tool.
• Receiving and processing travel request forms from travelers with specific needs and requests.
• Coordinating airline, hotel, and rental car reservations as required for individual and group travel.
• Creating travel in the Concur Government Edition (CGE) system in accordance with federal regulations and policies.
• Plan travel (domestic and international) using independent judgment to propose the most efficient and cost effective travel itinerary
• Checking official passport and visa requirements and embassy clearances (for international travel).
• Checking for necessary ICAP approvals, as applicable, prior to arranging meeting/conference travel.
• Preparing travel folders for each traveler which includes background information such as – travel authorization and itinerary, confirmation or reservation numbers, locations of meetings and flights, submission and routing of travel claims, tax exemption forms, travel comp time forms and logistics for travel once arriving at the destination.
• Providing emergency assistance during travel as appropriate.

• General clerical, administrative, and data entry duties.
• Gathering and preparing all travel reimbursement (voucher) documentation and authorizations in the CGE system in accordance with federal regulations and policies and within established timelines.
• Maintaining accurate hardcopy and electronic files on all transactions.


CDC experience highly preferred

  • HS diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • US Citizen required
  • Experience using Concur Government Edition (CGE)
  •  Knowledge of current federal travel regulations and policies
  •  Proven time management and organizational skills.

Knowledge and Ability:

  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Strong administrative skills and competencies including demonstrated knowledge of correspondence preparation, proofreading, spelling and grammar skills.
  • Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism required for the support of Division staff.
  •  Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral.
  •  Ability to effectively utilize the standard MS Office Suite of products and other CDC systems
