Job Description

USARC Collective Training Specialist

Job Responsibilities:  Serves as a Collective Training Specialist for the United States Army Reserve Command’s Collective Training Division of the G37. Responsible for coordinating and assisting units with developing training and exercise plans for units participating in USARC sponsored Functional Exercises primarily within the Sustainment SRC (QM,OD,TC). Coordinates with Operational and Functional Commands to ensure that unit specific training and exercise requirements and standards are understood. Provides expert-level analytical and technical support to staff projects involving training & exercise requirements, and those systems impacting such training.

Provides input to staff on training management. Assists Exercise UAAs in planning and organizing Functional exercises, and assists in integration within CSTP events when practical. Coordinates with subordinate units and higher headquarters for tasking and/or training support. Works with O&F Commands and other outside agencies to ensure training related taskings and/or training support will meet USAR units training demands.  Conducts coordination with post/training site agencies to ensure agencies are aware of training exercise requirements and assist in resolving any conflicts identified, prior to exercise execution.  Participates as required in exercise planning conferences to assist in production or validation of training plans.  Prepares briefings and other required materials as directed.

Primary duties are to focus on Functional Exercise training requirements for US Army Reserve Units. Works closely with the Quartermaster, Transportation and Ordnance SRC Managers with the G37. Provides support and expertise in logistics, transportation and ordnance exercise development that will enhance training readiness of USAR units. Follow established policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure training needs are met and units are properly scheduled. Participates in special projects as required across a variety of logistics disciplines. Responsible of maintaining strong relationship across the Army sustainment community. Seeks, evaluates and proposes logistics training opportunities to the USAR force. Five years of related experience in quartermaster logistics, transportation and ordnance required. Helpful program knowledge but not required: FMS Web, UTS, MDIS, ARTIMS, JTIMS, ITRS. Knowledge of the principles, methods, processes and applicable regulations involved in supporting quartermaster logistics operations.  Knowledge includes an understanding of military training, doctrine, planning and, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and force structure in order to doctrinally incorporate training units into exercises or Culminating Training Events (CTE).  

Provide constructive advice to G37 CTD on training validity and quality. Implement and maintain five year training strategy for units. Assist the USARC QM/TC/OD event managers for functional exercises and advise the USARC Action Agent on all matters pertaining to these exercises.  

Serves as the technical advisor to the government in assigned subject areas, recommending changes and identifying areas for further review.  Writes and updates training and exercise related documentation including presentations, operations orders and training plans. Prepares briefings and staff actions for the G37 and Chief of Collective Training.

Works in a highly intense information technology (IT) environment required to maximize the use of military systems, programs and databases of record, DAMPS, DTMS, UTS, mission specific digital systems/tools, and other available IT assets in the conduct of mission support. 

Job Requirements

8 to 10 years experience. Demonstrated ability to work independently or under general direction, Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills with 8 years of directly related experience in the development and delivery of technical military training and exercise programs and unit readiness analysis. Candidate possesses extensive experience in Army sustainment operations, training and exercise doctrine, especially with respect to reserve components.

Candidate requires the type of experience normally found in an Active, Reserve or National Guard officer or senior noncommissioned officer.

Unique/Additional Requirements: 

Must possess and be capable of retaining a Secret level security clearance.  Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in supporting military operations; Qualifications/competencies may include, but are not limited to: operations and training planning, scheduling and coordination, a proficient writer to draft training and exercise products, including OPORDs.  Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Access, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
