General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Junior Network Administrator at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Must have an active DoD Secret clearance.

The Junior Network Engineer will support the Communications Operations & Maintenance Functions (COM-F) contract by providing network administration services consisting of effective network/appliance provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of Systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This includes all related local area and wide area networks or segments, data communications, and associated equipment, software, and appliances.

Job Description:

  • You will perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks ensuring the systems hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to customer approved production configurations; government system availability and reliably standards; the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system operation and maintenance procedures.
  • The Junior Network Administrator is part of a 24/7/365 network administration services team. They perform network monitoring including monitoring alarms; verifying integrity and availability of all hardware, appliances, resources, systems, and key processes.
  • You would perform regular security event monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. They apply operating system (OS) patches and upgrades; upgrades administrative tools and utilities; and applies Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and other downward directed security patches.
  • The Junior Network Administrator upgrades and configures network software that supports infrastructure applications or per project or operational need. He maintains operation, configuration and other procedures and performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization; troubleshoot and resolve network service issues, initiate and process requests for firewall configuration changes and firewall configuration waivers, troubleshoots end-to-end network connectivity issues affecting the operations and performance of systems, operates and maintains program specific Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and firewalls and other network appliances, and installs, repairs, and adjusts network equipment.
  • They track and monitor all customer support requests and troubleshooting and resolution actions in the Trouble Ticket Tracking System – BMC Remedy, ensuring trouble tickets are documented and the final closed trouble tickets accurately reflect what the actual issue was and how it was resolved.
  • This is a 2nd shift position (3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) and the days worked will be Tue - Sat, or Sun - Thur. Initial month of employment will be 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) Mon - Fri.


  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • BA/BS degree with 0 years experience or related experience.
  • Able to manage the functionality and efficiency of computer networks (LAN/WAN).  

  • Monitors data traffic/network performance and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission. Troubleshoots and resolves problems.

  • Must be willing to assume second shift position ((3:00 PM - 11:00 PM) and the days worked will be Tue - Sat, or Sun - Thur. Initial month of employment will be 1st shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) Mon - Fri.)
