Job Description

Duties include:

  • Performing and reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non-compliance with established IA standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Assisting architects and systems developers in the identification and implementation of appropriate information security functionality to ensure uniform application security policy and enterprise solutions.
  • Assessing and mitigate system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle.
  • Contributing to the security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities for system and networking operations.
  • Reviewing certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation, providing feedback on completeness and compliance of its content.
  • Applying system security engineering expertise relative to engineering life cycle, system integration, risk management, change management, auditing, certification and accreditation process, principles of IA (confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, availability, and access control); and security testing.
  • Monitoring and suggesting improvement to IA policy. Interact with customers, IT staff, and high-level corporate officers to define and achieve required IA objectives.
  • Providing expert guidance and work product evaluation to one or more security engineers that support Engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Communicating with customers and teammates clearly, concisely, and professionally.
  • Creating functional documentation, standard operating procedures, and granular process checklists.
  • Providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technical staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Maintaining knowledge of relevant and emerging CND technologies.
  • Participating in special projects as required.
  • May perform Computer Security Incident Response activities for a large organization, coordinates with other government agencies to record and report incidents.
  • May monitor and analyze Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify security issues for remediation.
  • May interact with Users and evaluate vendor products.
  • May make recommendations to procure hardware and software, as well coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.
  • May evaluate firewall change requests and assess organizational risk.
  • May communicate alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems.
  • May assist with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls.
  • May performs periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance.
  • May prepare incident reports of analysis methodology and results.
  • May program in an administrative language.

Job Requirements

The contract position requires:

  • 8 years of related experience in data security administration.
  • A TS/SCI clearance
  • Candidate's willingness to obtain and maintain CI Poly.
  • An approved DoD 8570 IAT II certification prior to employment.  Viable certifications that meet this requirement are Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.  Most candidates obtain the Security+ CE certification.
  • An approved DoD 8570 IASAE II certification within 6 months after starting in the position.  Viable certifications that meet this requirement are CASP CE, CISSP (or Associate), or CSSLP.  Most candidates obtain the CASP CE.
