Job Description

The Professional Development Specialist manages and administers the Educational Assistance Program and supports the Certification Program. This position may also provide support to the other Talent Development department resources.

  1. Administers the Educational Assistance (EA) and Tuition Reimbursement program(TR).
  2. Administers EA vendor relationship and primary administrator for EA vendor tool used to research issues that support resolution
  3. Processes Union employee applications and reimbursement via a separate, manual process
  4. Evaluates existing EA, TR and Cert programs, and participates in the development and implementation of new programs.
  5. Supports the Certification Program by providing registration and logistical support and reimbursement processing.
  6. Ensures adherence to the policies and procedures; escalates issues when needed.
  7. Collaborates with team members across HR on EA and Cert topics
  8. Maintains records on all expenditure’s within the EA system
  9. Works with Payroll Department on the reimbursement processing system and with the AP department to ensure payments to vendor.
  10. Provides metrics and reporting of all EA, TR and Certification to support the programs
  11. Ensure emails and help desk tickets are answered in a timely manner.
  12. Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and technologies related to professional development.
  13. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

  • 1-3 years of related experience in professional development and training
  • Effective administrative and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of general human resources practices and procedures.
  • Proficiency in the use of PeopleSoft, Workday, EdAssist or related HRIS may be required.
