Job Description

  1. Provide technical, managerial, and administrative direction for medical communications infrastructure and systems outfitting.
  2. Lead a team in the planning and execution of procurement, installation, testing, and support of the RMF authorization effort of five major medical systems to include:
    1. Way Finding System, Q-Flow
    2. Real Time Location System (RTLS) with RFID
    3. Temperature Sensitive Monitoring system (TSMP), Rees
    4. Automated Pharmacy Dispensing System, Omnicell
    5. Nurse-Call/Clinical Communications System, Vocera
  3. For Q-Flow, develop the transition and move plans for the Q-Flow components in the old hospital to the new hospital, expanding the existing system and documenting as-builts to include network drop inventory and PoE Power management.
  4. For RTLS, TSMP, Omnicell, and Vocera, analyze the Bill of Materials (BOM) already drafted to make revisions as necessary. Coordinate with the OEM or awardee to procure and install the delta and turn-in/trade-in equipment if necessary at the appropriate time as determined by the Project Management schedule. This includes expanding the exciting system and documenting as-builts to include network drop inventory, and PoE Power management.
  5. Clear understanding of DoD SEP and JSN code and nomenclature.
  6. Oversee/lead/manage:
    1. Systems integration
    2. FMR creation and collection of artifacts
    3. Equipment planning
    4. Equipment purchasing
    5. Installation, testing, and training
    6. Transition and activation
  7. Facilitate IA accreditation to RMF standards of all systems procured.
  8. Develop project timeline including IT planning and IA/RMF activities in coordination with the hew hospital’s project integrated master schedule.
  9. Support network infrastructure components to include:
  10. Create rack elevation and network diagrams from provided BOM
  11. Analyze and support opening of a data center with redundant cores, top rack distribution, and Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) switching (52 comm closets)and routing.
  12. Ensure virtualized environment for servers/desktops and licensing
  13. Support Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) storage solution
  14. Determine if additional network cabling is required and if it is, support the acquisition and installation process to ensure proper handling.
  15. Develop and manage infrastructure fiber and copper inventory database to include wall plate ID, closet ID, rack port ID, and cross connects to switch ports.
  16. Document, Red line or update architecture drawings to illustrate additional drops.
  17. Ensure the project stays on schedule so that the new facility and staff can meet the healthcare mission upon opening day.
  18. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 
  19. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

General:  8-10 years of related systems engineering experience, including supervisory experience.

Specific experience:

  • PMP preferred
  • MS Project – Initial development and continuous use/coordination throughout execution
  • Visio 2016 or greater
  • Revit 2018 or greater
  • Working alongside construction contractor during new construction
  • IT field
  • Windows 10 Administrator
  • MS Server 2012 or greater
  • MS SQL 2012 or greater
  • Medical device support/integration/installation
  • Similar Federal, DoD and/or Army projects
  • Overseeing/supporting medical device RMF process (Steps 1 through 6)

Certifications: Possess and maintain the most current certification for an IT Professional Enterprise Administrator

  • Security+
  • Computing Environment (CE) Certification
  • Security Clearance - Secret


  • Required National Agency Check with Local & Credit (NACLC)
  • Requires appropriate base certifications and background check to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
