GENERAL SUMMARY: Leads evaluation of processes and analysis of functions in support of business information systems; works under limited supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs, develops, maintains, and recommends changes to processes in support of business information systems.
  • Works closely with the software development teams to understand system solutions.
  • Develops testing strategies to ensure deliverables meet customer requirements.
  • Leads and participates in highly complex projects with USPS customers, managers, end-users.

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Functional Analyst with a mainframe/DB2 coding background for re-engineering existing DB2/COBOL application. 
  • Ability to develop precise & comprehensive specifications based on the functionality of the existing application processes & code
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong Control-M knowledge
  • Strong understanding of DB2 databases
  • Strong knowledge of Cobol/DB2 Code
  • 3270 DB2 Tools 
  • Strong analytical Skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong understanding of SQL
  • Fundamental understanding of relational database
  • Fundamental understanding of web design
  • Basic understanding of Agile methodology
  • Basic understanding of Visual Basic
  • Strong understanding of PL/SQL coding practices
  • Basic understanding of JAVA coding practices
  • Ability to write and understand test scripts
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
  • Ability to articulate technical solutions to various technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Designation

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS (PREFERRED)

  • Background in application testing and knowledge of software testing best practices.
  • Familiarity with Incident and Change Management tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum management tools such as VersionOne.
