Job Description

Manages the security of information systems assets and the protection of systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Provides support for proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies. Maintains operational security posture for a large program to ensure information systems security policies, standards, and procedures are established and followed.

  1. Manages the security of information systems assets and the protection of systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
  2. Supervises assigned staff and aligns team/staff efforts to support organizational goals.
  3. Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information.
  4. Performs preliminary forensic evaluations of internal systems as needed in support of incident response activities.
  5. Interfaces with the government customer to understand their security needs.
  6. Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of procedures and other security-related deliverables to accommodate customer/contract requirements.
  7. Oversees security training and ensures all appropriate personnel receive appropriate training in accordance with GDIT and/or customer/contract requirements.
  8. Ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security.
  9. Weighs business needs against security concerns and articulates issues to management and/or customers.
  10. Provides security-related analysis and input to support the change management process for the information system(s).
  11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  12. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

  • 8-10 years of related experience in data security administration, including supervisory experience.
  • Must have strong written, verbal and collaboration skills to work with business units to obtain consciences and decisions from key stakeholders of the program while developing and executing strategic plans to ensure operations across the program is executed in a unified strategy.
  • Advanced knowledge of data security administration principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification preferred.
  • Requires understanding of firewall theory and configuration.
  • Requires understanding of FISMA required security controls (NIST SP 800-53).
