Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Reports to the Program Director. Manages the LMR, Installation Spectrum Management, GETS, and WPS programs for the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA). Oversees all personal wireless communications programs for USAFA to include but not limited to cell phones and LMRs.       

 

PRIMARY DUTIES: Reports to the Program Director. Works alone or with a team. Manages the USAFA LMR program. Programs, inventories, issues, receives, loans, and accounts for LMR assets. Provides customer training to include authorized use, care, operation, equipment protection, consent to monitoring, and proper radio protocol. Provides sufficient technical information to enable all users to properly operate LMR equipment. Provides first-look maintenance in accordance with Government-established restoral priorities. Solves complex work center-related problems. Dispatch’s the Academy’s third party LMR maintenance contractor when unable to complete maintenance repair actions during first-look maintenance. Works with the Academy’s third party LMR maintenance contractor as necessary during all LMR maintenance repair actions. Provides the Government with repair status updates as requested. Provides on-call support as required. Develops technical recommendations for modification or replacement of LMR equipment and systems. Maintains technological standards and investigates and promotes new LMR and personal wireless communication technologies for use by USAFA. Manages all PWCS programs, processes, policies, and procedures. Manages USAFA’s GETS/WPS program. Performs an annual GETS card inventory and orders/tracks new/replacement GETS cards. Manages WPS accounts as required. Manages USAFA’s MSS program IAW applicable Government directives. Fulfills other work center duties as assigned.

SECONDARY DUTY: Provides support to other contract work centers in cases of manpower shortages or unexpected requirements.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Responsible for all applicable work center additional duties to include but not limited to safety, budget, quality, files, and hazardous waste.        

  

Job Requirements

Five years specialized experience in the Air Force LMR maintenance/management arena. Motorola Trunked Radio System operations and maintenance experience highly preferred.

DoDSECRET security clearance is required.
