Job Description

**This position requires an active in-scope TS/SCI**

GDIT is looking for a highly motivated Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a key contributor on a large software development effort. System Engineering will encompass up front segment-level architecture-requirements-design definition, lower level engineering and design as part of agile software development sprint cycles, and support to preparation and execution of customer reviews.  Also encompasses Information Assurance and Scrum Master roles.

 Up front segment-level architecture-requirements-design definition. 

    • Segment level spec (customer provider) exists (~120 requirements) Segment architecture has been developed.  Draft subsystem level spec has been developed.  Architecture and subsystem level spec needs review, update, and coordination with customer. 
    • Interface Control Documents (ICDs), customer-provided, with all externals (5) exist; outlines message types and content, with message XSDs supplied as well.  Need review, some minor updates to content.  May require coordination with customer or other externals. 

 Lower Level Engineering/Design as part of Agile team

    • As necessary, develop use cases and sequence diagrams to aid software developers in understanding problems to be solved.
    • Each engineer will participate in one of the software product scrum teams (front end web services, or back end processing), to specifically aid developers in understanding problem to be solved, and possibly aid in algorithm development.

 I&T:

    • Develop Requirements Verification and Traceability Matrix: describe how/when requirements will be verified
    • Software developers will lead unit level testing; System Engineering expected to draft plans and reports for segment level testing (or testing with externals)

Responsibilities:

  • Work within an agile team, designing, improving and developing applications
  • Work on mission-critical infrastructures, tools, and processes that enable our systems to scale at a rapid pace.
  • Document and integrate software systems and solutions using a wide variety of tools and technologies that enable agile development, open architectures, continuous integration, and rapid development.
  • Perform gap analysis to identify process and tool integration needs, system dependencies and integration points, systems interface and data flows.
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

5-8 years of related systems engineering experience.

Required:

  • Experience working with agile software development teams
  • Knowledge in life-cycle support (e.g., requirements/interface definition, decomposition, test planning, test execution, test reporting, baseline management, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing technical and programmatic documentation ensuring accurate and that impacts are identified, understood and distributed.
