Responsible for strengthening the defensive posture and cyber defense operational readiness of an IT Enterprise, our Enterprise Cyber Network Defense (ECND) program defends and protects Government assets from external Cyber Security attacks and Insider Threats that can potentially cause or create data, systems, networks, and personnel vulnerabilities.

As such, GD Information Technology (GDIT) seeks a Principal Systems Engineer with advanced knowledge in applying in-depth sustainment support of enterprise network cyber defense capabilities to prevent sophisticated cyber threats and vulnerabilities, or detection of them when prevention fails.

Hands-on experience in designing, fielding, and maintaining Splunk in a dispersed manner is a must.

Functional duties consist of:

  1. Performing complex system development, design, modeling, analysis, integration, and sustainment of Splunk systems for new or existing computer systems within an Enterprise.
  2. Developing dashboards, data models, reports and performance optimization.
  3. Designing and customizing complex search queries and promoting advance searching, forensics, and analytics.
  4. Developing and documenting configuration standards, policies, and procedures for operating, managing and ensuring the security of a Splunk infrastructure.
  5. Participating in incident, problem, and change management processes related to Splunk.
  6. Providing Splunk O&M and User access.
  7. Planning and directing upgrades and system enhancements.
  8. Developing and implementing testing strategies and documenting results.
  9. Developing documentation on new or existing systems.
  10. Providing system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  11. Serving as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.
  12. Providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff.
  13. Communicating with customers and teammates clearly and concisely.
  14. Maintaining current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  15. Participating in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

The contract position requires:

  • 8 years of related systems engineering experience.
  • A TS/SCI clearance
  • Candidate's willingness to obtain and maintain CI Poly.
  • An approved DoD 8570 IAT II certification prior to employment.  Viable certifications that meet this requirement are Security+ CE, CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP.  Most candidates obtain the Security+ CE certification.
  • The candidate to obtain an 8570 IASAE II within six months from the date of hire.  Viable certifications that meet this requirement are CASP CE, CISSP (or Associate), or CSSLP.
