  • Exciting fast paced positon solving real world problems in multi-vendor-environment; utilizes critical thinking to troubleshoot complex network issues while maintaining constant vigilance over enterprise network resources
  • Works in Chantilly, VA or Denver, Co locations, responsible for performing 24/7 continuous monitoring to identify network incidents, related to service interruptions, WAN/LAN outages, and network system performance issues
  • Remediates network and system performance issues and coordinates and implements network changes in accordance with established network maintenance activity processes and established network instructions
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and maintenance; maintains administration on routers, switches, multiplexers, load balancers, and encryption and decryption devices within a multi-vendor environment
  • Responsible for troubleshooting SONET, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, Ethernet, Frame-Relay, VRF/VPN, VPLS, Tunneling and other technologies to identify potential switching and routing conflicts for multiple enclaves
  • Responsible for proactive configuration of network paths to ensure optimum performance of multiple systems
  • Interacts with Cyber Network Defense (CND) analyst to investigate network security related incidents
  • Responsible for identifying root causes and executes mitigation strategies for network and equipment anomalies
  • Responsible for maintaining Job Qualification Standard requirements and job certification with an implemented Annual Plan of Instruction (APOI) per customer direction in conjunction with DoD 8570 Requirements
  • As Subject Matter Expert, this is the highest technical resource on the watch floor and will be responsible for troubleshooting incidents that cannot be solved by other team members; responsible for escalating tickets

Job Requirements

8-10 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.

  • Utilizes the ITILv3 processes and additional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for event, incident, and configuration management on Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) and Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) techniques.
  • Monitors and investigates Network Management System (NMS) Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) trap data and Syslog messages, troubleshoots network incidents, documents findings, remotely restores services/recommends fix actions, and dispatches maintenance to appropriate organizations if remote restoration is possible.
  • Coordinates and implements network changes in accordance with established communications maintenance activity (CMA) processes and procedures.
  • Performs traffic engineering (TE) by intelligently manipulating Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) metrics to temporarily alt-route Label Switched Path (LSP) traffic in the event of an incident or CMA.
  • Collects relevant information required for vendor Technical Assistance Cases (TACs) and provides engineered solutions where a temporary work around is feasible until failed hardware is processed via Return Maintenance Authorization (RMA).
  • Reports Situational Awareness (SA) information to the customer and works to identify business impact in conjunction with technical trouble ticketing documentation.
  • Maintains Job Qualification Standard (JQS) requirements and job certification with an implemented Annual Plan of Instruction (APOI) per customer direction in conjunction with DoD 8570 Requirements.

Must possess appropriate current DOD Information Assurance (IA) certification to be considered for employment; i.e., CompTIA Security+CE, or CCNA-Security

Experience with ITIL Incident Management processes

As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access
