Job Description

Team Leader for a major Navy business enterprise network operations center environment. Candidate will provide on-site leadership for a team of 25 engineers and technicians and be responsible for all aspects of daily operation, sustainment, upgrade, internal and external customer interface, and compliance with Navy and DOD policies and guidance.

  1. Provides technical, operational and administrative management of assigned project or tasks.
  2. Supervises assigned staff, including subordinate supervisors.
  3. Leads technical interchange meetings with internal and external customers to resolve complex technical issues. Prepares and presents impact assessments, plans of action, and white papers.
  4. Utilizes background and experience to develop and maintain policies, instructions and SOPs.
  5. Utilizes experience in network engineering and system administration to lead troubleshooting to resolve system problems.
  6. Utilizes system engineering experience to leads detailed planning to include; and provides recommendations to customer on task workload prioritization.
  7. Attends customer meetings and serves as primary customer liaison.
  8. Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and customer staff.
  9. Responsible for development of technical deliverables and products and inputs to program management deliverables.
  10. Ensures compliance with DOD information assurance and cyber security directives.
  11. Leads certification and accreditation and inspection preparations.
  12. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

8-10 years of related IT project planning, management and supervision experience required.

Background in Systems Administration (Windows/Unix), AD, Storage and Virtualization required.

Ability to report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.

General knowledge of network devices, including Cisco devices, firewalls, and switches.

Knowledge and experience with DOD IA compliance policies and procedures, including DoD STIGs

Experience developing and maintaining Information Technology Service Management processes and Standard Operating Procedures using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Navy IT Service Management Office’s Navy Process Reference Model strongly desired.

Additional desired experience requirements include:

  • Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows XP/7, etc.)
  • Active Directory (2003/2008) group policies design and implementation
  • Implementing and supporting Microsoft BackOffice products (Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, SMS)
  • VMware vSphere administration
  • SAN Storage Design and administration
  • Working knowledge of server hardware (RAID, clustering, virtualization, etc.)
  • TCP/IP protocol, DHCP, DNS
  • Knowledge of MS Forefront Identity Management a plus
  • Microsoft SQL 2008/2012 and MySQL administration a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Project and Visio
