Job Description

GDIT is HIRING a human subjects Research Assistant to support research for the Defense & Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) located at the Minneapolis VA Health Care Systems in Minnesota. The Research Assistant is responsible for assisting with the performance of clinical investigation projects in a clinical setting, including recruitment of potential study subjects, collection and organization of data, scheduling patients for follow up appointments.

Mission: Our goal is to develop research related to clinical needs and questions aimed at assessment of brain injury recovery through advanced imaging processes as well as the long-term implications of brain injury and the aging process. We also are looking to expand DVBIC research into additional areas in VA Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, specifically with the Amputation and Stroke programs. Find out more HERE



Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs data entry for clinical investigation projects and maintains
  • Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and
  • Completes assessment of and administers intervention to study subjects.
  • Involved in the collection of magnetic resonance images (MRI) from study subjects.
  • Maintains study related documents and supplies in the investigator’s office; secures, organizes and documents as required following all federal/ state
  • Creates, collects, disseminates, maintains appropriate files of study data, and assists with review and completion of study manuals and
  • Screens consents and/or schedules potential research participants for testing or evaluation. Facilitates follow-up assessment reminders and
  • Extracts data from patient medical records; transcribes and resolves data queries in case report forms (hard-copy or electronic); prepares documents, under direction of project leaders; reports statistical analyses and descriptive data from patient's study books to be used in research/clinical investigations/studies reports.
  • Maintains awareness and compliance of research regulatory
  • Communicates regularly with study team, under direction of project leaders, via email and conference calling as

Job Requirements

  • 1+ years of related scientific experience in research/clinical investigations/studies required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions required.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required.
  • Must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.
  • US Citizenship is a contractual requirement with the ability to obtain/ maintain a favorable T3 security investigation.
  • Prior experience within MRI data collection, interventional research studies, and the DoD/VA systems of care strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • May encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.
