Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology – Federal Civilian Division is currently looking for a Research Associate to join our team.  The position will support our client at the Office of Defense Veterans Brain Injury Center.

The Research Associate will plan, conduct, and complete investigations under the supervision of the lead of the project. Will participate in all aspects of research including tracking and supporting study progress, data collection, organization, literature reviews, structured interviews, analysis and interpretation of basic data and will assist with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans, conducts, and completes investigations under the supervision of the head of the project.
  • Participates in data collection and organization, literature reviews, structured interviews, provides basic data analysis and interpretation.
  • Assists with the preparation of technical reports, summaries, and protocols.
  • Maintains clear and accurate records, inventories and logbooks.
  • Verifies and corrects data entry for research projects, supports senior staff in quality control and provides trouble shooting.
  • Assist with research portfolio management activities
  • Assist with the development of standard operating procedures, gap analyses, study manuals, training packages, and data collection tools (including IT systems) 
  • Provides written updates to senior staff.

Job Requirements

  • 2-5 years of related experience in scientific research and analysis.

Customer Requires

  • Must be a US Citizen to be able to obtain a Public Trust 
  • Minimum Experience: 2-4 years’ experience in research required. Prior experience within the DoD/VA systems of care strongly preferred.
  • Required Licenses: None.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of standard qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques.

  • Ability to follow general instructions; work in a team; good communication, writing and analytical skills; familiarity with social science research methodology is required.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills required. S/he must adhere to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy.

  • Physical Capabilities: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to carry light items – up to 25 lbs. May encounter patients who are confused, agitated, or abusive.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Provides research guidance to junior research staff.
  • Work Environment: Office and clinical environment. Must be available to travel locally, regionally and nationally.

For the purpose of this program project and the related position descriptions, the term “RESEARCH” is used to refer to “CLINICAL INVESTIGATIONS”. This program project does not support research in the basic sense of the term (i.e., in laboratories, bench research, or animal testing).

This position will normally work up to 40 hours a week Monday through Friday (hours may vary). Overtime is not authorized. Must be a U.S. citizen.
