GDIT has a future opportunity multiple Senior Laboratory Research Associates to assist in chemical analyses for a client in Atlanta, GA.  Candidates will work as part of a team performing logistics for specimens containing a wide variety environmental contaminants, biomarkers and metabolites in biological samples. Duties will encompass responsibility for sample receipt and accessioning, preparation, some analysis and phlebotomy.  To succeed in this position candidates must be detail oriented and able to rigorously follow approved methods; keep detailed records; and follow all regulatory and safety requirements to affect delivery of high quality specimen control. This will include keeping, sample, instrument, and where required analysis logs as well as monitoring and reporting on specimen status and consumables inventory.

Incumbents will be a member of a diverse small team. The ideal candidates will have a working knowledge of compliance with CLIA, ISO, and other industry standards and best practices, logistics and experience working in a regulated laboratory environment. 

  • Receives, records, and stores specimens per approved methods and policies adhering to all required regulatory and safety procedures
  • Maintain reagent and supply inventories for kits and day to day lab use with specific reference to LOT control
  • Perform routine chemical analyses in accordance with approved protocols and according to planned schedule
  • May assist in method development and validation activities
  • Compile study related reports and communicates to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments according to approved schedule and procedures.
  • Maintain all required inventory logs, sample logs, test records, instrument logs, maintenance logs, and methods records as required by regulatory requirements and client policies.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Control activities including performance of reagent and supply validation; instrument validation; and quality control results review.
  • Adhere to CLIA and ISO practices as well as OSHA and organizational safety requirements
  • Collaborate with team members on method, process, and test procedures to affect a culture of continuous improvement
  • Adhere to all federal regulations regarding the handling of clinical information
  • Comply with all client and GDIT requirements for laboratory safety and security
  • Strong communication (written and oral), computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, medical technology, biology, environmental science, logistics or related discipline or equivalent in education and experience may be substituted.
  • 5+ years’ laboratory bench experience with working knowledge of routine analytical chemistry methods and technology including liquid-liquid and solid phase extraction; chromatography; and UV and Visible spectroscopy and mass spectrometry
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow approved methods without deviation
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently with general guidance from supervisors
  • Well-organized and detail oriented
  • Able to multitask and operate effectively within a diverse and dynamic work environment
  • BS degree in chemistry, medical technology, biology, environmental science, or related discipline and 8 years’ experience (equivalent in education and experience may be substituted)
  • Certified phlebotomist or willing to attain certification
  • Experience with logistics
  • Hands on experience with LC, GC, and mass spectrometric analysis technologies
  • Knowledge of laboratory and safety regulations including CLIA, ISO, and/or OSHA standards
