milCloud® 2.0 is a Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) led program that connects commercial cloud service offerings to Department of Defense (DoD) networks in a private deployment model. This provides DoD mission partners the latest scalable cloud technology and operates at Impact Level 5 and 6 of the Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide. milCloud® 2.0 works to improve availability and performance of datacenter services and reduces the DoD’s total cost of ownership for delivering infrastructure services.

GDIT is looking for a Senior Systems Administrator with network and hardware administration experience to provide support for the overall workload and execution of O&M tasks on the milCloud® 2.0 cloud within the Data Center. Senior System Administrator responsibilities include: Installing and configuring software, hardware, and networks; responding to service outages, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues. Other duties may include scripting or light programming, project management for systems-related projects.

NOTE:

  • This position is contingent.
  • This position may require being on-call as needed for after-hours support.
  • This position will be located in Montgomery, AL on client site (military base). Some telecommuting will be permitted.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing/debugging faults in complex services or distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of enterprise network gear including routers, switches, and load balancers
  • Install and maintain operating software
  • Maintain data files and systems configuration
  • Evaluate and install patches
  • Monitor system performance
  • Perform system backup and recovery
  • Perform software/hardware evaluation
  • Perform user account and profile maintenance
  • Working knowledge of enterprise routing protocols and IP subnetting
  • Able to diagnose and mitigate faults
  • Ability to perform work under continuous deadline pressure
  • Ability to identify and script automatable problems, perform work with efficiency in mind
  • Respond to Incidents/Requests/RFI tickets submitted by customers via ServiceNow to include Tier 1/2 level triage

Required Qualifications:

  • Active DoD SECRET w/ SSBI or TOP SECRET security clearance to include eligibility for DISA IT1
  • BA/BS + 5 years of related experience, or MS +3 years related experience
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • Testing and analyzing networking hardware and software
  • Monitoring network connectivity
  • Installing hardware and software components
  • Integrating and upgrading operating systems
  • Setting and/or modifying system parameters
  • Experience managing client and software revisions
  • Experience installing and supporting desktop utilities for virus protections and file viewers
  • Able to troubleshoot performance and connectivity issues pertaining to network devices such as DNS and Domain Controllers
  • Proficient in documentation tools such as MS-Office, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Highly analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation (verbal/written) skills; Comfortable in presenting to executive audiences
  • Be able to lift and move computer equipment within a data center

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Science degree in Computer Engineering, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems
  • Professional experience and certification to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation a plus
