Job Description

The Software Asset Manager is responsible for tracking and managing software assets within an Enterprise environment. Experience working with license or asset management solutions. Responsibilities include assisting in the procurement, receiving, and on-going management of software assets. Good communication skills are a must and being able to bridge the communication gap between technical and non-technical individuals is also a must. The Software Asset Manager does require some base technical experience working with software in an Enterprise setting. An understanding of application software and systems architecture in regard to software assets is strongly desired.

Duties include:
1. Assist with the procurement and tracking of software.
2. Receive and store software, binaries, and keys within a software repository.
3. Experience managing or deploying software from a technical perspective.
4. Experience with License Management Solutions
5. Build and manage objects within the license management system to track licenses and software
6. Identifies configuration items, implements change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits
7. Works on teams to create and maintain software, hardware, and documentation configuration baselines (development, test, production, etc.)
8. Develops or modifies CM plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system
9. Implement CM discipline for the entire life cycle of systems from initial requirements/capabilities baselines to system end-of-life
10. Regulates the change process so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into product documents and related software, licenses, media, and other IT assets
11. Ensures that all changes to the baselines go through appropriate change boards
12. Tracks all problems and changes in product documents/software and reports changes, controls standard operating procedures and current configurations
13. Uses or recommends automated CM tools to implement CM policies and procedures

Job Requirements

1. 5-8 years of related experience in software asset management, traffic and/or supply chain management.

2. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, processes, and applicable regulations involved in supporting Software management operations.

3. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant technology and equipment.

4. Specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.

5. Must possess and maintain a Secret Clearance.

6. Must meet DoD 8570 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V3 Foundation within six months of hire.

7. This position may be required to complete short-term deployments to austere locations worldwide

8. The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
