Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Senior SQL Server/ SQL Server Data Tool (SSDT) Advisor to join our team providing support to the World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHPS). GDIT, in conjunction with our partners, delivers technical and management support services for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) -  National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) with the implementation of the WTC Act.

In this role, you will design, develop, and unit test SQL Server ETL processes using SSDT and thoroughly evaluate the system to analyze upstream and downstream effects.  You will be part of a team of other Technical team members.

  • Gather and analyze the functional requirement documents from the business and understand the key business questions.
  • Translate the functional requirements into technical specifications
  • Build and maintain the naming standards and data dictionaries with respect to the data model and database and document the data model on a regular basis.
  • Develop, Operate and maintain a transactional processing system
  • Design, build and maintain data warehouse to house data extracted from multiple sources to support analytical analysis/financial reporting.
  • Enhancing the existing data model to facilitate the financial and clinical reporting needs of the end users.
  • Reversing engineer existing source databases to understand the data architecture and perform detailed source data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers and functions to support the ETL support the ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) process.
  • Create and maintain, Design, source to Target mapping and implementation documents to support the ETL processes to refresh the target database or data mart with the data from multiple sources.
  • Create and maintain SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)/ SSDT packages to load data from various sources to Data warehouse as well as generate output extracts to external entities.
  • Support Ad hoc report requests from business.
  • Create and maintain database objects, enforce constraints and create validation rules around data maintained in Access Databases for custom functionality.
  • Develop and maintain Production Notification Process to efficiently track and report the automated job statuses to the business.
  • Tune SQL generated by Microstrategy (reporting tool) for improved performance.

•          Masters Degree in Information Technology or business related field is required and eight years related experience

•          Minimum of eight years experience developing, and implementing ETL solutions using SQL Server/ SSDT/ SSIS

•          Eight years business analysis experience

•          Minimum of eight years years experience with SQL Server/ SSDT/ SSIS design

•          Eight years Software Development Lifecycle experience

•          Eight years experience as a SQL Server developer (ETL, extract, transform and load)

•          Experience developing technology documentation to support ongoing maintenance of data solutions

  • Experience with Healthcare Domain Knowledge that includes claims processing, enrollment and benefits management.
  • Thorough understanding of business processes related to Claims (medical and pharmacy) life cycle.
  • Experience with Plexis Healthcare system – Quantum Choice applications 2014 and 2018 versions that deals with Member enrollment, certifications, claim consumption via EDI, adjudication and payment processing.
  • Experience with SQL to support Auto Adjudication processes in Quantum Choice application (QC 2014 & 2018)
  • Experience with EDI X12 claim files ingested into Plexis via EDI consumption and generate acknowledgements (output responses) to Change health.
  • Experience with Database design tools such as CA Erwin, Microsoft Visio to build logical, physical data models and data dictionaries for both transactional and reporting (data warehouse) databases;
  • Experience with reverse engineering from existing databases/script files to generate data models.
  • Experience with Complete Compare, Report builder functionalities within Erwin data modeler tool.
  • Experience with database management systems - SQL Server 2008 & 2014. Efficient in T SQL programming.
  • Experience with data migration housed in Local MS access databases to SQL server Experience with MS Access design tools as the interface to integrate external data sources/feeds to both reporting and operational databases.
  • Experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) tools - Microsoft Visual Studio (2008 & 2017).
  • Effectively utilize the tool to its maximum efficiency to read, cleanse, validate, transform and move data from a variety of source data structures into target databases and vice versa.
  • Experience with both structured and unstructured data files.
  • Experience with a wide range of data files of different file formats including flat file, XML files etc.
  • Interact and coordinate with business teams as part of requirements gathering and analysis and conduct Design review meetings.
  • Experience with performing Source Data analysis & Database design to provide efficient reporting capability and handle complex data relationships.
  • Experience with Microstrategy (MSTR) Reporting tool – Query tuning of SQL generated in MSTR for better performance, Free form SQL reports and report validation.
  • Experience with Database administration activities that include but not limited to Database restores, backups, user access, performance tuning and event-based scheduling of SQL server jobs.
  • Experience with Database upgrade activities. Effectively handle day-to-day Technical Operations Experience with production notification processing for reporting
