Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) under the auspices of the Enterprise Operations and Security Services (EOSS) program provides enterprise services to the Army National Guard (ARNG) Federal and State missions. ARNG Information Management Operations division hosts over a dozen enterprise applications identified for migration to the Defense Information System Agency’s (DISAs) MilCloud service offering. GDIT is seeking a senior cloud engineering lead with strong migration experience to lead this effort. The incumbent shall report to the Application Management Lead providing sound judgement recommendations based on analytical technical requirements interpretation and experience. Individual will analyze current applications architecture and research effective and efficient cloud technologies that allow for a minimally invasive transition to the cloud environment, without impacting mission capabilities


  • Provide technical expertise on cloud computing techniques and technologies and expert advice to the program, and related cloud computing architectures
  • Proficient in virtual private cloud services and technologies (i.e. AWS, Azure, MilCloud, etc.) with advanced understanding of virtual system, network, storage, and security infrastructure (VMWare ESXi, NSX, vSphere, vSAN).
  • Experience with DevOps pipeline tools and systems architectures (hardware, software, networking, and databases) as it relates to system and application migrations
  • Ability to integrate cloud environment with on premise Active Directory enterprise
  • Excellent client relations skills and communication
  • Self-motivated and able to work across diverse technical and non-technical teams
  • Ability to work independently while providing sound technical guidance to direct reports, Sr. Leadership, and government customers
  • 5+ years of technical experience with Cloud Technologies including AWS, Azure, and hybrid Cloud architectures.
  • 5+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of application re-factoring/re-hosting and migration
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads while consistently providing outstanding customer service.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Excellent attention to detail.
  • Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context.
  • Results oriented: Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task.
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT management, administration, applications and system development lifecycles within a substantial IT environment.


  • DoD SECRET Clearance
  • ITIL Foundation Certification (can be obtained within 60 days of employment)
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • BS degree in relevant field and minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or MS degree and 5 years of relevant experience. 5+ years’ work experience can be substituted for BS.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Visio, creating and or modifying existing operational and system view diagrams


  • CompTia Cloud+ certification
  • Defense Information System Agency (DISA) MilCloud experience
  • Experience with RDBMS (e.g. SQL, Oracle)
  • Application development experience in one or more high-level languages
