Job Description

General Dynamics is seeking an experienced Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) operator to join our team as a Principal Senior Operations Analyst to provide military subject matter expertise on SSDS.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Provides advanced analytical and technical support to projects involving SSDS training, tactical/operational documentation, system design and other efforts requiring military operations expertise.
  2. Researches, identifies, and makes recommendations about resources required for SSDS task execution and completion.
  3. Gathers, processes, and analyzes SSDS operational data.
  4. Assists with the testing and development of new SSDS systems or updates to existing systems to meet client needs.
  5. Identifies and recommends emergent relevant technologies that may result in improvements to current SSDS processes.
  6. Writes and updates SSDS documentation including system procedures, presentations, and training materials.
  7. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  8. May serve as technical team or task leader.
  9. Maintains current knowledge of SSDS relevant technologies and subject areas.
  10. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have 20 years of military or relevant government experience which should include five (5) years of experience aboard Navy aircraft carriers or large deck amphibious ships equipped with the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS). Qualified and experienced in a watch station with the authority to employ the SSDS (i.e. TAO or Combat Direction Center (CDC) Watch Officer) with a Tactical Action Officer Qualification letter is desired. Familiarity with operational and tactical doctrine, concept of operations, standard operating procedures, and tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) is required. Experience with formal instruction and/or teaching is a plus.
