Job Description

Technical Editor, Pensacola, FL

Our QA/Editing team provide direct support to project leads and instructional developers to review, edit, format, and validate US Navy training course materials, computer-based training courses, and other assignments as tasked:

  1. Develops and applies quality standards in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  2. Edit, review, and revise written documentation per style manuals and ensure consistency, basic grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, page organization, and format is correct.
  3. Must have practical experience using the Government Printing Office (GPO) Style Guide.
  4. Provide feedback to Instructional Developers on a wide variety of training products, to include analysis documentation, storyboards, lesson plans, trainee guides, interactive computer courseware, and mobile applications.
  5. Assists with the testing and development of new training systems or updates to existing systems to meet client needs.
  6. Provide technical and administrative direction for personnel performing development tasks, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with contract schedules.
  7. Coordinates with the Program/Project Manager to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction.
  8. Prepare and review written materials ensuring that basic grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, spelling, page organization, and format is correct.
  9. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  10. Ensures standardization of project deliverables and products across the program
  11. Assesses and ensures project deliverables and products align with approved project and product documentation (e.g., lesson design strategies, storyboards, SOW requirements, etc.).
  12. Facilitates QA processes and procedures across program and project teams.
  13. Maintains configuration control of quality control documentation.
  14. Researches, prepares, and edits technical documents.

BS/BA degree in Education or other related discipline is required.

  • Requires 2 years minimum general experience as a Quality Assurance Specialist, Technical Editor, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of grammar, punctuation and spelling, and the ability to use reference guides is required.
  • Requires experience with the GPO style guide.
  • Recommend experience with Navy curriculum and correspondence.
  • Excellent written communication skills are a requirement of employment.
  • Candidate must be a US citizen. Prefer a qualifying background investigation (NACLC or higher) within the last 10 years to meet eligibility requirements for an IT Level II Common Access Card (CAC). Active security clearance preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Applicants outside of the Pensacola, FL area will telecommute and must meet the requirements of GDIT's telecommuting policy.
