Job Description

Writes technical copy for various operation and maintenance manuals and prepares related technical documentation.

CESO ITSS Technical Writer will be responsible for supporting the Sr. Technical Writer in support of CESO ITSS.  Seasoned, self-motivated, professional with experience supporting high performing teams in a high ops tempo environment. Due to the security nature of the program all system changes, plans, and designs require detailed documentation prior to execution. This will require ongoing sustainment of system CONOPs, network diagrams, knowledge management artifacts, etc. The Technical Writer will provide writing support to engineering, governance and program management in support of CESO ITSS requirements.  Typical work to include writing and modifying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assisting with related requirements documentation for new incoming ECPs or Task Orders, documenting engineering/governance/program management processes and other writing/review assignments as directed.


•         Provide structured writing, editing, and formatting for all documentation.

•         Identify, plan, and create content required to meet documentation needs.

•         Develop and maintain technical documentation (manuals, installation/deployment procedures, quick start, training material and other technical guides) for engineering dept.

•         Review and test peer documentation for accuracy, grammar, clarity, and compliance with corporate style.

•         Research and translate technical information into manuals and web-based documents for non-technical and technical audiences.

•         Interface with engineering, SME, operations and other experts and relevant personnel to complete document deliverables.

•         Research design and functionality with subject matter experts, providing documentation support at each stage of the product development/commercialization process.

•         Maintain documentation integrity through predefined, structured use of document management system.

•         Adhere to established documentation standards and styles.

•         Contribute to continuous improvement of product documentation and company quality standards.

•         Provide regular status reports to management for assigned projects.

•         Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.

•         Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job. 

•         Elicit and clearly document business and systems requirements

1. Researches and compiles technical data for use in various operation and maintenance manuals, training materials, installation guides, and other technical documentation.

2. Obtains data from review of documentation, drawings, schematics, and reports, interviews with technical staff members, and the study of published material.

3. Prepares written text and coordinates layout and organization of materials according to prepared outlines and specifications.

4. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

5. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements


  • Strong English grammar, proofreading, and copy-editing skills
  • Proficiency with all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook) and advanced computer, graphic and software skills for Adobe and Oracle software
  • Proven ability to understand and interpret relevant levels of technical specifications and translate them into understandable features and benefits for customers
  • Ability to understand and interpret technical manuals and technical data
  • Well organized with ability to expedite multiple simultaneous projects
  • Able to plan, execute and document technical work and projects
  • Good verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills

Candidates be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract

Must be eligible for SAP program


Travel is required as determined by the customer – approximate travel up to 20%
