Job Description

Performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. Work involves most of the following: Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages; routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods; rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials; examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage; removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

  1. Receives and stores materials in a warehouse or storage facility in an organized manner and convenient location for removal when needed.
  2. Identifies inventory shortages or excessive usage and reports to the Supervisor.
  3. Maintains the inventory system to aid in production scheduling.
  4. Marks or tags articles as necessary for identification purposes.
  5. Retrieves stored material when requested, transports it to the requester, and returns material to storage as required.
  6. Develops and maintains effective warehouse storage practices that promote efficient storage, identification and retrieval.
  7. Follows established policies and procedures to maintain accurate records of all warehouse activities including receiving and shipping, inventory audits, deliveries, and transfers through use of the inventory management system.
  8. Operates hand and power equipment, including forklift, for material handling.
  9. Participates in special projects as required.

Job Requirements

1-3 years of related warehouse experience.

  1. Effective organizational skills.
  2. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  3. Ability to operate a forklift and other related tools and equipment.
  4. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, squat, and reach for warehoused material.
  5. Candidate must be able to wear safety hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and other Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  6. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
