Job Description

GDIT is seeking a Test Engineer to perform Quality Control (Software Testing) activities with the Software Testing Center of Excellence (STCoE) team at GDIT.  STCoE is a team of professional software testers providing both functional and structural testing support to projects on a number of Federal contracts/agencies. 

We are seeking a professional who will become an effective contributing member of the STCoE, employing standard SDLC processes. You will guide and help mentor junior testers learn software testing principles.  You will work across a variety of assignments that include working on complex web-based systems.  You will develop; execute; and maintain system test plans, test cases, and other related testing artifacts.  In this role you will have the opportunity to work with test script development using automation tools, e.g., HP Functional Testing Suite (UFT/QuickTest Pro), eggPlant Functional, HP Performance Center (LoadRunner), eggPlant Performance, and HP ALM (Quality Center) – prior experience with these tools preferred. 

A current Secret clearance or ablity to obtain one is important for this position. This position is located onsite at our Warrenton, VA office.


  • Review and interpret system requirements and translate them to testable features.
  • Develop and execute automated (and some manual) tests at the system, acceptance, and integration levels
  • Analyze and interpret test results. Identify, record, and track defects using tools like JIRA
  • Perform black, gray, white-box testing on target systems
  • Create, manipulate, and maintain test data files
  • Write system test plans, implementation plans, and operational readiness certifications for each phase of testing

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2 + years of testing, engineering, or quality assurance
  • Current Secret clearance or ability to obtain one  
  • Experience with several different types of testing such as Integration, System, and Acceptance testing, regression and performance; or black, gray, white-box testing on target systems
  • Familiarity of the full SDLC methodologies
  • Test data generation and maintenance
  • Experience writing and executing SQL queries
  • understanding of system development, architecture, testing, and structured programming
  • Working knowledge of the internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
  • Develop and execute automated (and some manual) tests at the system, acceptance, and integration levels (such as UFT, HP Quality or ALM or other automated testing tool)
  • Experience writing system test plans, implementation plans, and operational readiness certifications for each phase of testing


  • At least three years of productive working experience with HP Testing solution (ALM, UFT, PC)
  • Experience with automated testing framework implementation and maintenance, preferred
  • Understanding of performance testing/testing tools preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of web services testing preferred but not required
  • Experience on XMLs and SOAP, preferred
  • Professional SW testing certification, preferred (e.g.: CSTE, ISTQB)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Good organizational, interpersonal, and analytic faculties
  • Leadership skill to lead a group of test engineers
  • Team player who works well with customers and colleagues at all levels.
