Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology is looking for a Web Designer (Visual Designer) with strong User Interface/User Experience (UX) skills to join our  team on an innovative software development program that supports the Department of Commerce customer in the Washington DC area.  This position is based in Washington DC. In this role, you will join an agile team in taking a software application from concept to completion applying the human-centered design process and integrating process. 

Job Requirements

  • Designs and builds web pages using a variety of graphics software applications, techniques, and tools
  • Work with the Senior UX Consultants to optimize products and services for a range of clients
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
  • Build assets for web, mobile and possibly game applications for development team
  • Support development of branding for software applications by creating mood boards, style guides and logos
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images for specific projects
  • Assist in the production of wireframes, prototypes, concept sketches, interaction designs and user flows
  • Help to create clean and simple user-centered designs in a timely manner
  • Work in an agile environment with developers, QA, BA and designers to build user-friendly software applications
  • Assist the Senior UX Consultants in creating design rationale and specifications
  • Participates in special projects as required.
