Job Description

The User Experience (UX) Data Analyst/Data Visualization Designer supports the Data and System Development division of a government agency in Washington, DC. Duties include:

  • Lead in enhancing the usability of current data reports, dashboards, and data products using UX methodologies and techniques.
  • Respond and fulfill data requests from internal and external agencies with enhanced data products to ensure effective communicuation.
  • Support the development of a new user-centric system by helping to define and develop conceptual mockups through wireframes and interactive prototypes.
  • Provide UX/UI expertise and disseminate best practices in data visualization and analysis.
  • Conduct research to improve the user experience and develop user-centered business analytics processes.
  • Gain knowledge and expertise in the program in order to work effectively with many stakeholders and decision makers to identify data needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent data analytics and visualization skills.
  • Experience using data visualization tools.
  • Experience in applying UX methodologies and techniques to improve current system and to inform the development of a new system.
  • Expert user of SQL and MS Office (Excel and Access).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and data analytic tools, e.g. R and Python, preferred.
  • Ability to respond to time sensitive requests independently, work well under pressure, as well as work with large amounts of fragmented data in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
